doggy placemat!

My nephew just got a new puppy. She is a boston terrier (so cute) and when they saw Zuko's place mat they asked if I would make one for there dog Ellie.  Of course!

So here it is! The size fits this standard food plate..

It's so easy to whip together
You can see the measurements from the grid. The brown strip is 2 3/4 x 15 and the rest is 6x15

The most time consuming part is the applique. I used the letters from my art to heart book

Then I made my quilt sandwich.  Warm n' Natural was used on the inside.

Next was the blanket stitch around the letters (this takes a lot of practice)

I did a blind hand stitch on the binding.

So the finished size is 14 1/2 x 7 3/4

and it's  Zuko Approved!
I can't wait to give it to them. Then maybe I can get a pix of there dog and post it! She is sooo cute!
Thank you for looking. I will be participating in these blog parties:

  1. I don't have the sewing skills to pull this off, but my cat would love something like this. She might nap on it though. I am a new follower from Handmade Tuesdays. Vicky from www.messforless.net
