Candy shop

DIY Sign.
This is a fun little project to do in a couple hours.

First I put tape down so I could paint my stripes

I always remove the tape before the tape dries. Once the paint dried I took a sander to it...You will be able to see in this next picture.

Do you notice how the paint is a bit faded?

click on this post to find out how I copied the words onto the sign.

Then just paint it on with a little paint brush

And your done! I always run my sander over the top of the words when finished so it doesn't look so perfect

I like it! It looks like an old vintage sign and didn't cost a thing!

Work In Progress

Who wants a cupcake? I am loving this project. I bought this pattern at the Home Machine Quilting Show

I love these patterns by Thankfully Sew. She has something cute for every season,  I made a Snowman from her pattern too.

This is what it will look like when it's finished. I did it a little differently with the gray background,

I still have a lot to work on, I'm going to put pom poms on it, add ric rac and buttons and I need to add the words "Happy Birthday" I can't wait to get it finished!

Oh and here is an update on the quilt that I was working on last week. Its completed!
Yeah, I know it looks wierd...I was just  undecided when putting it all together.
Click here to see more pictures and the story behind it. And as always, thanks for looking!

flower vase

I loved my scrappy swing so much that I had to do something similar.

I have a special place at work that I'm going to hang this. I love the flowers...They have little beads in the middle of them.
And this is actually perfect to have on my desk cuz it does not require sunlight or water. (I have a hard time keeping plants and flowers alive)
Thanks for looking! I'm going to link to these parties:

I actually finished something!

but this was so cute and easy to do it wasn't too hard to keep going.
I love all the scraps that I used and had the perfect amount left for binding.
You have to check out her blog

I was especially drawn to this project because in my bedroom I have a picture of my daughter on a swing. My daughter is now 13 but in the picture she was around 4.
so cute right? I can't even remember her that little and I feel so lucky that I have a picture like this.

Thanks for looking. I will be participating in these blog parties:

Secret Santa Swap

I know I showed my Snowman already but what I didn't tell you is that I have to give it away...
Yess, I made it for the Secret Santa Swap! In a couple days I have to pack it up and ship it out.
But if it puts a smile on my swap partners face then its worth it!

I attached tabs on the back so it can be hung with just a little nail. (i don't know why one tab looks smaller, I promise it's just the picture angle)

Usually I hand stitch the back of the binding but this time I did it by machine and my experience is finally paying off! It looks like I did it by hand! Tons of pinning is key.
Thanks for looking! If you jump over to  CottonCharmquilts you can visit other blogs that participated in the swap.

sew n tell

So in an earlier post I was trying to decide how to quilt my pumpkin patch wall hanging, I didn't know what to do for the background.....
 So I went with stippling....
When in doubt...stipple it out.
And now it's complete!

There are some amazing finishes on Amylouwho's blog this week.
Make sure you check them out!

how to quilt it?

So I have completed this cute wall hanging, binded it cuz I thought it was done...but now?
 Not so sure.
Everything is appliqued on there, I got this super cute pattern from the quilt festival. Now all I need to figure out is how to quilt it. What I did on this first is blanket stitch around the words and pumpkins with the batting and backing already put together but now I don't know if I should go thru and quilt the background or leave it the way it is?
...should I leave it or do something on the black background? Should I just stipple it? Or should I go thru with black thread and outline the leaves and letters?
 I don't know  :(

To quilt or not to quilt?

I saw this saying in a local quilt shop but it was written on a wood block.
So of course I thought it would look great on a mini quilt hanging on my sewing room wall!
To Quilt or not to quilt??  That really is a silly question...haha.

Halloween Quilting

It's been a couple weeks since I was able to participate in Sew N' Tell...
I had so much fun putting this together.

So the applique frog, cat and boot is from a pattern i purchased from Chitter Chatter Design at the quilt festival.   I made up my own layout.

So lately I think I have been overthinking how I'm going to quilt a certain project that I almost think I ruin it...I never know how I should "quilt" a quilt.  I almost think I should have just stippled through the whole thing. But I do still like it. I guess with experience comes better quilting decisions.

I do like the swirls though!                                                   Make sure you check out the rest of the projects on Amylouwho Blog!
