Simplicity Pattern Review 8856

I made it!  I took the time to make this cute Boho Style shirt/dress! AND.... I Vlogged about it too!

Yes it was not as easy as the others but I really love the results! Click here to see the full video.

I made with rayon fabric. I think its a must have in any women’s wardrobe! This tunic shirt goes great with leggings and I love the pockets! Its loose fitting and very comfortable.

I would say the pattern is more for an intermediate sewer. I don’t think it was an easy shirt to sew. The pattern involves gathering fabric, lots of pinning and sewing on a pocket, sewing on the lining and using stabilizer. I also attached a button to the back.
The pattern gives detailed instructions on how to sew the shirt. Just read slow and you will have no problem making this!

I’m here to inspire you to make beautiful handmade things and I would love to be part of your sewing journey! You can find more of me here:

striped skirt

It's been awhile, even though I haven't been bloggn' I've still been sewing.
This skirt is made from my project runway pattern.  It is Simplicity #2698. This pattern is not the easiest or fastest and the waist area is a bit tricky but I made do!

I really like my skirts to have pockets so that is why I picked this pattern.

sewing pockets on takes a bit longer but its worth it. And I love using a different pattern for the pockets.

And adding pleats adds a little bit more character as well.

So I think its not too bad right?

You can't have too many skirts for work.

colorblocking

I have seen alot of colorblocking at the department stores lately and I love them!

Here is my color block dress using my butterick pattern 5463.
This took about an hour to make..its just 2 pieces!

Its the same pattern I used as this shirt, I just lengthened it a bit for a dress.

and added elastic on the inside to give it some shape....sorry about the pix, I guess I was facing the wrong way from the sun.

oh...and I added pockets.

This dress is where a little bit of my inspiration come from (this dress is $168 at nordstrom). ..but mostly from a dress at Macy's. ..I saw it and loved it and knew I could make it. I couldn't find a pix online but they look identical.
so this is how I did it...cut a pretty wide contrasting strip and sew it down the midde..

Then just fold it in half and put your pattern on top of it to cut it out...pretty easy!

Here is another color block item!  This top was made by the same pattern.
And this was my inspiration!  Pretty cool right?

I love that all I need to do is surf the web for what I like and whip it up!  Or just window shop at the mall...
So that is all I have for now. Thanks so much for looking!
I will be sharing these project here:

another top

Since this butterick pattern (5463)  is so easy I decided to make more!
I love Nicey Jane Fabrics! And I love how every top is so different even though I used the same pattern.
You will notice on this top I pleated it in the middle and it is because this fabric is a little more heavy weight so it doesn't lay quit right so that is why I added the pleats.

If you hop over to my last post you will see it only takes about 45 minutes to make one top....but if you are going to make 1 then you might as well make 2! I love how it appears to have sleeves however I did not sew a different piece for the sleeves. All you do is sew the front to the back hem the raw edges!
This one is more casual and made out of a thin knit and I didn't make a sashing for it.

It's not my favorite top but just something I whipped up!

but this one is my absolute favorite and I'm going to enter it in the spring top sew along.
I'm also going to link up to these parties too:

spring tops

Easy! Easy! Easy! I promise!
Only 2 pieces!
Now do I have your attention? I made 2 of these in about 1hr 30mins.
The secret is to cut out the fabric for 2 shirts.
Pinning and cutting the fabric is the most consuming part...
so you might as well cut 2 out at the same time.

This is the pattern I used. Its a butterick pattern for a blouse. I followed the instructions for the light blue shirt in the front. And again...it is only 2 pieces! Sew the front to the back and finish off the raw edges.
I love how it has sleeves but you don't need to cut out a separate piece to make the sleeves.

I didn't make a sash(belt) for them but I think the orange one needs one. this floral one is just very casual.
So have I inspired you? It's a great way to add to your wardrobe.
And I also made 2 more!  Well, I made another one with Nicey Jane Fabric and I have to sew up the other one....They come in two's! I will be sure to share those with you as well. (in another post)
So I found this sew a long and I'm going to enter just for fun even though I know my tops are not cute cute (just cute) I just love how simple they are and if you are a beginner sewer then you can do this!
I will be posting to these parties:
