Reality Sets In

Now that the holidays are over and the New Year is here I have realized I no longer have time to quilt. I had a lot of days off during Christmas and was able to sew but now it's back to work and I can't find much time. Also, as I look back I can see that I have been spending too much money on fabric. I need to slow down, I need to stay out of the quilt shops for at least a month. Just until I can get caught up on my finances...but no need to worry, I have a stash of fabric to keep me busy and a few quilts to finish. With that being said i have to show you this little tool my grandma gave me, it saves so much time.. It is called the angler and I use it all the time, it makes triangles in no time. All you do is cut your square, match them together then put the pedal to the metal.
You match the point up to the black line and sew, then flip it over and sew the other side.

Then you just cut it down the middle and iron and boom, boom, pow! Look at all the triangles I made in 30 minutes!! I didn't count the triangles but there enough to go around a twin size quilt. Now do you see how I am able to get things done around here? I'm always trying to find the fastest way to do things.
Depending on the way you layout your triangles you can also make pinwheels, stars and zig zags. Maybe I'll show an example later.

If you are married its important to have other things, separate things that make you happy.  Don't rely on your spouse to make you happy. You both need to find happiness in the things that you enjoy and since happiness is contagious it will rub off on your spouse. You also need to give your spouse space so they can enjoy things they love to do, its important to keep your identity in a marriage! You can still "find yourself" while being married. (I've been married over 20 years) You don't need to rely on people to make you happy! People will let you down, they have there own obligations they have to tend to so if you a

Your First Sewing Machine!

2020 has been a great year for sewing machine sales! Joanne's can't seem to keep them in stock. People making masks as well as others picking up new hobbies due to quarantine and with Christmas around the corner this might even be on your list! So are you looking to buy a sewing machine? If you are in the market for a new Sewing machine you might be a bit perplexed with all the different features. In fact sewing machines range from $100 up to..well there are some in the $12,000 range! So I'm going to keep it simple and share 3 key features to look for in your sewing machine investment. 1. Needle up/down feature : This means when you are sewing a project and you stop you can indicate that you want the needle down into the project so your fabric stays in place when you need to pivot or make adjustments to the fabric. 2. Automatic needle threader : this saves time (and frustration) by threading the needle for you. 3. Needle position right to left: This allows you to stitch
